City Park – A Launceston Icon

City Park is a lovely green space situated across the road from our little studio.

Established in 1807 and handed to the Launceston City council in 1863 to create what was known as “The Peoples Park” it is a much loved community space hosting Festivale every February along with music in the park during the summer months. It is also home to the Japanese Macaque Monkey troop, which were gifted to Launceston in 1965 when we became a sister city with Ikeda City in Japan.
